A girl on the go guide to achieving the perfect youthful flush
Based on the overwhelming popularity my last blog post (technically first because it was my first blog post haha I’m so quirky and funny wow!) garnered (5 views!) I’ve decided to do another makeup..tutorial? How-to?
What You’ll Need:
(In depth explanations/descriptions below…)
- A cream blush OR tinted lip balm
- A highlighter
- Cream Lipstick
Ok, Now Lets Dive Deeper…
The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is my holy grail concealer. It might not be super full coverage, but it brightens up your under eye area and stays natural looking. A swipe of this and some gentle dabbing with my finger blends it out pronto, instantly illuminates my under eyes. The trick? I like to specially apply this in my inner corner and blend down.
What can I say… I’m no makeup guru, I don’t even come close. I don’t have a cream blush, so I use this tinted lip balm instead. Since it isn’t a matte lipstick or long-wearing lip stain, I can use this and it’ll still look natural. The CoverGirl tinted lip balm I use in the shade “spice” is the perfect rosy pinky-red, healthy, laughing cherub color. It applies sheer, so it’s super easy to maneuver. I just put some on the back of my hand and apply with my fingers to the apples of my cheeks and the middle of my nose.
I like using a pink highlighter to feel extra rosy. This is my only pink highlighter, but powder, cream, or liquid could all work. This Cover FX liquid highlighter is super pigmented, so I wouldn’t recommend you get it unless you’re more experienced… EW that sounds so gross and bratty. Let me rephrase. Liquid highlighters are usually harder to get the hang of than cream or powder. They also take more time to blend in unless you have a sponge, or a lot of practice. I used to use a sponge to blend this in, but now I just use my fingers. KEEP IN MIND: this highlighter dries quick, so you gotta make sure you blend quickly unless you want a pink streak across your face.
There’s no skimping out when it comes to lashes. They just totally transform your look! I like to use my waterproof Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced Cosmetics because waterproof mascaras hold curl better. Then, I layer on with my L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise because it adds extra volume and oomph. Pro tip: When it comes to mascara, don’t be a brand whore. While there are many great higher end ones (Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash, Too Faced Better than Sex, Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real!) there are also great drugstore mascaras (L’oreal Telescopic Carbon Black, Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect, Etude House Curl Perm Fix Mascara)!!
Full disclosure, I think super pigmented lipsticks look terrible on me. I hope that one day I’ll grow to like them. but right now I definitely do not. Plus, most lipsticks are drying as HECK. Add that to my already chronically dry flaky lips, and you’ve got a disaster on your hands. I like to use tinted lip balms, or even “lip butters” like these because they’re hydrating but also add a little color to your lips. The shade above, “peach parfait” has a little too much glitter for my taste, but I love the creamy consistency and fresh color it brings to my face.
So there you have it, folks, how to get that greek mythology cherub flush. If you see this please comment down below what you thought, constructive criticism, I’ll even take mean comments. (I’m (figuratively) looking at you, mom and dad) Just kidding about that last part… to the five readers that read my last blog: I really really appreciate it and it means the world to me. You make me… wait for it… FLUSH! HAHA! GET IT! Because this entire post was about achieving a healthy flush… Ok I know, I know, I’m not funny and that made no sense. Bye!
